A: A hardship license is a license that you are given at arraignment. After the judge takes your regular driver’s license, then he gives you a hardship license if you are eligible because you have some hardship that necessitates you driving to or from work, to or from school, or to or from doctors’ offices. That is only going to be available for first 30 days after your arraignment, and then after 30 days you are automatically entitled to a conditional license, which is a better license. It lets you drive to and from work, including for work-related purposes. But again, you should immediately contact a lawyer after you are charged so your lawyer can procure you those licenses.
